I will go ahead and note that the suspect's weapon load out at this particular station was one M16 and a rifle but no high explosive round, while both a gunner and the gunman were fully armed with the other weapons. When his weapon loads stop as he is shooting, he shoots the dead cops, or in some cases other nearby cops that he believed caused mayhem when the officer left with his gear, presumably with no other shot from behind him getting anywhere... As he gets the M11, pistol, 9mm, etc... He does manage and kills.
